Royal Liverpool & Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust – Liverpool Life Sciences Accelerator Building (Value: £25m)

As a collaboration between the Royal Liverpool & Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust and Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, this £25m new-build facility consisted of state-of-the-art laboratories including collaboration zones, insectary facilities in which the internal condition can be set to create “tropical” environments, specialist category 3 laboratories, offices, meeting rooms and a cafeteria covering around 30,000 sq.ft of space over five floors.

Having started in January 2016, the works were completed by October 2017 and during this time, great care and consideration was put into the design as the construction faced various challenges such as being a city-centre site in extremely close proximity to pedestrians, and being a site that is directly connected to the live Royal Liverpool Hospital.
