Mobile Classroom installation

KOK were appointed for Quantity Surveying services to prepare for the £251k Mobile Classroom installation on two sites for the Isle of Anglesey Council. The project consisted of groundworks to receive the mobile classroom units (which were let as a separate contract), located in Tywynn, and Esgeifiog. The works began in January 2020 and completed in September 2020, with the groundworks undertaken by 4Crosses Construction, and the mobile units being supplied by Elite Systems UK Ltd.

As part of our service, we liaised with the Client to provide a Bill of Quantities (BQ) for pricing, and then assessed the priced BQ’s to ensure best value. We also completed and issued contracts for Client and Contractor signature. Our QS team travelled to both sites, attending pre-start meetings to collaborate with the rest of the project team prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, and ensured continued communication virtually during the pandemic. We assessed and approved / amended valuations from the Contractor on behalf of the Client, as well as assessing final accounts and released appropriate retention upon practical completion.

Key to the success of this project was working together in managing the effects of the global pandemic and the challenges it brought to the workforce. Through regular communication, the following of government, CLC and HSE guidance, the project was completed successfully, safely and with minimum time disruption.
