The new Operating Theatres and Critical Care facilities at Leighton Hospital have recently won a national award. The Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Estate Management (IHEEM) named the Project Team as “2014 Project Team of the Year” for the work undertaken in creating the state-of-the-art treatment facilities.
The £22.8million project saw the creation of eight state of the art operating theatres (4 with Ultra Clean Ventilation), 14 recovery bed spaces and 14 critical care bed spaces. The new building is adjacent to, and integrated with, the hospital’s existing Treatment Centre.
The new facilities feature the most up-to-date equipment available and allow the people of Crewe, Nantwich and the surrounding areas to receive first class treatment in a modern environment.
“The introduction of features such as linked theatres, known as ”˜barn’ theatres, in addition to the overall centralisation of our theatres suites into one location, has enabled the creation of services that are sustainable, deliver clinical efficiencies and help to enhance the patient experience.”
Mike Babb, Divisional Director of Estates and Facilities at MCHFT
