Regional Office: The position will be mainly ‘home’ based in or near Warrington, but have the flexibility to travel across the North and nationwide.

Reporting to: The Managing Director

Conditions: Salary and package to be agreed. Corporate training and development support will be made available. A discretionary performance bonus will be offered to the successful consultant.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a recently qualified/part qualified Construction Safety Professional to join Keelagher Okey Klein, whose portfolio of clients include Local Authorities, Universities, NHS Trusts, Housing Associations and blue chip multi-national companies. For the right candidate this is an ideal opportunity to join a well-established and expanding team within a highly successful and well respected Construction Safety Consultancy.

Duties and responsibilities:

This is a stimulating opportunity for an organised, dynamic, and communicative person with a keen eye for detail to establish a robust Health and Safety regime with important new clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing:

Lead CDM Advisor and Principal Designer or Principal Designer Advisor (PDA) services on large complex projects and a variety of other schemes for a wide range of clients, architects and contractors.

Lead advisor for CDM compliance on low to high complexity projects provided via major term contracts.

Liaise with clients and designers and provide CDM / PDA advice

Attend design team and progress meetings.

Review DRA’s, RAG lists, drawings and Construction Phase Plans.

Carry out site safety inspections and CDM compliance audits.

Prepare technical progress reports.

Promote partnership working to achieve SHE objectives.

Agree the information for and preparation of PCI. Advice on Health and Safety Files / Ope

Being part of a Team of experienced and dedicated Construction Safety Professionals.

Assisting in the provision of CDM Consultancy services to a varied base of established Clients, Designers and Contractors.

Assisting in the provision of CDM services on low to high complexity projects provided via major term contracts/Framework Agreements and bespoke Project commissions.

Liaising with Clients, Designers and Contractors in the provision of construction safety advice and assistance advice.

Where required representing KOK at design team and progress meetings.

As part of a multi-disciplinary Team, review DRA’s, RAG lists, drawings and Construction Phase Plans.

Carry out Site Safety Inspections and CDM compliance Audits.

Assist in the preparation/Prepare technical progress reports.

Promote partnership working to achieve SHE objectives.

Agree the information for and be involved in the preparation of Pre Construction Information.

Offer advice on Health and Safety Files / Operating & Maintenance Manuals prepared by the Project Team or Principal Contractor.

Person Specification:

The ideal candidate will have a good working knowledge of the practical application of CDM Regulations and other Health, Safety and Environmental Legislation and have an sound appreciation of the construction sequence / methodology for new building, alterations, demolition and fit out projects and enable the promotion of practical Health and Safety intervention strategies.

It would be advantageous to have previous experience of providing CDM services to a range of construction sectors and Clients.

He or she will have a confident and approachable personality that invokes trust and respect both internally and within a Project Team.

The candidate will have the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and have experience of using the MS Office suite.

Able to take full advantage of the committed technical support and team working available within KOK, be disciplined, well organised and methodical in their approach.

Qualifications and Experience:

NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or be actively working toward).

Membership of the Association for Project Safety (CMaPS) ideally.  Support to achieve CMaPS would be provided to the right candidate.

Professional Membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (Tech IOSH) advantageous.

A Construction Professional with both health and safety and professional or technical construction related qualifications would be advantageous.

CSCS card (or willingness to obtain) essential.
